WHY BUMI DETIK

What Distinguishes Our Approach

We work without haste. Each timepiece that enters the workshop is given the attention appropriate to its age and construction. Clients are kept informed — not overwhelmed — and recommendations are always proportionate to the watch's actual condition.

Read More About Our Standards

Documented Assessments

Every visit produces a written record. Nothing is estimated verbally and then forgotten.

Calibre-Specific Methods

Techniques are matched to the movement — a vintage hand-wound piece is not handled the same way as a modern automatic.

No Unnecessary Work

We will only recommend what the watch actually needs, and we will explain why before we begin.

Photographic Records

Complication work is photographed at each stage. The file accompanies the watch when it leaves the workshop.

Clear Turnaround Times

Assessments are completed in three working days. Overhauls take approximately two weeks. Complex work is agreed during intake.

Transparent Invoicing

Every component renewed or replaced is listed clearly. There are no line items you cannot account for.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in? +
Walk-ins are welcome during business hours for a brief initial conversation. If you would like a full intake assessment — which takes 20 to 30 minutes — booking ahead helps us give you uninterrupted time. You can call or write to arrange this.
What watches do you work on? +
We work on mechanical and automatic watches, including vintage pieces and those with complications such as perpetual calendars and chronographs. We do not currently service quartz battery watches or smartwatches.
How is the Intake Assessment different from a service? +
The assessment is diagnostic, not remedial. We examine the watch, measure its current timing, note the condition of every visible component, and then give you a written plan. You decide what to do with that plan. There is no pressure to proceed with any further service at that point.
Will the overhaul affect the originality of my watch? +
We are careful about originality. We will only replace a component when it is worn beyond use or missing entirely. Polishing of the case and bracelet is offered as an option, not done automatically. If the watch has collector value, we discuss the implications before any cosmetic work begins.
How long does a complication restoration take? +
Complication work is agreed during the intake assessment. The timeline depends on the calibre and the extent of the work required. We will not commit to a date we cannot meet, and we will keep you informed if circumstances change.
What are your payment terms? +
Payment is due on collection. We accept cash and major bank transfers. For complication restorations, a deposit may be requested at the start of work — this will be discussed and agreed beforehand.
